What2Watch

At The Key2Free, one of our core values is awareness. Below, you will have access to what we like to call our "What2Watch Card." We hand out this awareness card within the community to give a quick cheat sheet of potential warning signs of sex trafficking (this list is not exhaustive). 

WHAT2KNOW:

Traffickers use force, fraud and coercion to compel victims to perform commercial sex acts. In the United States, most victims are trafficked by individuals they have a relationship with (rarely a complete stranger)! Though primarily female, victims can be of any age, gender or demographic.

FORCE: includes physical restraint, physical harm, sexual assault, abduction and beatings

FRAUD: includes false promises regarding employment, wages, working conditions, love, marriage or better life COERCION: includes threats of serious harm to or physical restraint against any person, psychological manipulation, document confiscation, and shame/fear-inducing threats to share information or pictures with others or report to authorities

WHAT2WATCH:

signs of physical abuse - sexualized behaviors - withdrawn, tired, fearful, secluded, isolated disconnected, distracted or depressed - older boyfriend or new friends with a different lifestyle - new &/or unusually expensive items - evidence of being controlled - chronic runaway or heightened vulnerabilities - carries multiple cell phones - does not make eye contact when speaking - drug use/addiction
